Tokyo Paralympics: Shooter Avani Lekhara Wins Gold, Devendra Jhajharia Bags Silver

It was a historic day for India at the Tokyo Paralympics as athletes went on to bag medals galore. Shooter Avani Lekhara won India’s first medal in shooting in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event on Monday. Javelin Throwers Devendra Jhajharia got silver and Sundar Singh Gurjar won bronze in Men’s Javelin Throw F46 final.

Lauding her performance PM Modi tweeted, “Phenomenal performance @AvaniLekhara! Congratulations on winning a hard-earned and well-deserved Gold, made possible due to your industrious nature and passion towards shooting. This is truly a special moment for Indian sports. Best wishes for your future endeavours,”

Discus thrower Yogesh Kathuniya bagged silver in the men’s F56 event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
