Vijay Makkal Iyakkam dissolved says Thalapathy Vijay’s father

Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay,s father has dissolved Vijay Makkal Iyakkam a political organisation. The move comes after south film star Vijay lodged a case against his parents and several other office-bearers. He also sought a restrain order against the political outfit. The order restrains them from using the actor’s name to draw members and organise meetings.

Vijay’s father and director SA Chandrasekaran have informed the Chennai court that Iyakkam has been dissolved.

As reported by sources to TOI, In an affidavit submitted to the Chennai City Civil Court, Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekar said, “It is submitted to the Court that a General Body meeting was convened on 28-02-2021 at Chennai after giving prior notice to all members of the ‘Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’. In the General Body meeting, a resolution has been taken that Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been dissolved/wound-up with immediate effect.”

SA Chandrasekaradded, “Ten respondents in the case who were also office bearers of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam have handed in their resignation letters. Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been dissolved, it is not in existence now. We are no longer members of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, but we all continue as general fans of film actor Vijay.”

The court has now adjourned the case to October 29.

Vijay Makkal Iyakkam was founded by SA Chandreshakar in June 2020. He had registered it with the Election Commission of India. At the time, Vijay had denied any connection to the party. He had also clarified that it was registered by his father not him. He asked his fans not to be associated with the party.
