Australia vs India: Virat Kohli equals Sourav Ganguly’s record for most overseas victories as captain

Virat Kohli celebrates India's victory over Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

Indian skipper Virat Kohli once again found himself in the record
books with India’s win in the third Test against Australia at the
Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

With this Test win, Kohli matched former Indian skipper Sourav
Ganguly’s record of 11 Test match wins as captain. One of the main
concerns for the Indian Test team, for a long time, has been their
performances in testing conditions in overseas conditions. And Kohli
and co surely have done enough to tick that box as they now
potentially stand on the cusp of making history–winning their
first-ever Test series in Australia.

Speaking on the win, Kohli said, “We are not going to stop here. This
(win) will give us more confidence and we will play more positively in
Sydney. I think we have been really smart in all the departments in
the two matches that we have won. That is the reason we have at least
retained the trophy but the job is not done yet. It’s not finished at all.
We want to win the last Test match as well if an opportunity comes
our way. We don’t want to be complacent. We are all but ready for the
final Test match.”
