India vs West Indies: Virat Kohli could equal Inzamam-ul Haq in centuries

India skipper Virat Kohli is on the verge of touching another milestone when he dons the India jersey on Friday. India take on the West Indies in the second Test of the two-match series that gets underway in Hyderabad. Virat Kohli, who is on 24 Test centuries till date, will have a chance to be even stevens with former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul Haq, who 24 Test tons against his name.

Though Inzamam-ul Haq scored those centuries in 120 Test matches, Virat Kohli has only played 72 so far. Izamam had scores 8830 runs at an average of 49.60. Kohli is far ahead if average is taken in consideration. Kohli has scored 6286 runs averaging 54.66.

Interestingly, Inzamam made his Test debut against England in 1992, when the current India captain was only four years. Kohli has already overtaken two of India’s finest batsmen —former captain Mohammed Azharuddin and swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag — who has 22 and 23 centuries, respectively against their names.

As far as Indians are concerned, Kohli is only fourth in the list of centurions. Sachin Tendulkar (51), Rahul Dravid (36) and Sunil Gavaskar (34) are still ahead of him. In all, Kohli is at the 21st spot in the list of centurions across the world of cricket.
