WhatsApp testing new features of turning voice messages into text?

Facebook owned WhatsApp has introduced quit an interesting list of features in recent years. The message sharing application is now apparently working on to launch new tools to turn the voice messages into the text ones. WhatsApp is apparently testing this feature before making an official announcement. Using this features, users can turn their voice messages into text messages, a special tool will be introduced on the app which is currently in a developmental stage.

WhatsApp has not officially made any announcement on this new tool. It has not even offered it to the beta testers as well. WEBetaInfo, popularly known for tracking the new features on social media apps has apparently spotted this new feature in the developmental stage on WhatsApp for Android and iOS. It notified that WhatsApp users will be able to transcribe the audio message to text if this tool is launched officially on the application. It is believed that in order to transcribe the audio message into text, the message might not be first sent to Facebook or WhatsApp. Instead the application might use message transcribing services provided by Apple or other service provider.

According to the reports, the feature is optional, but special permission will be required when users decide to transcribe a message. WhatsApp would ask for permission before the user starts to use this new feature of Speech Recognition. Its transcription is reportedly saved locally in the WhatsApp database. Apple will reportedly use this to improve its speech recognition technology, “but it won’t be directly linked to the user identity.” This is to protect the privacy of the user.

Official announcement is expected from WhatsApp and Facebook. Meanwhile, for more such updates, stay hooked on to The Live Mirror.
