Dimple Yadav is the daughter of Army colonel SC Rawat. She is married to Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and President of the Samajwadi party, Akhilesh Yadav. While Akhilesh and Mulayam Singh Yadav are busy with Indian politics, she runs the family business. She was also charged in a disproportionate assets case before marriage with her family members.

Born in Pune in 1978 in the family of Army Colonel SC Rawat, she has two more sisters and did her education from Pune, Bhatinda and Andaman Nicobar Island.

She is known to be a voracious reader and a talented painter. Her interest in sports is equivocal to that of her husband’s and she loves horse riding.

Dimple Yadav graduated in commerce from Lucknow University.

Dimple and Akhilesh have three children: Aditi, Arjun and Tina, of which Arjun and Tina are twins.

She was defeated in the by-election for the Lok Sabha constituency of Firozabad in 2009 against actor turned politician Raj Babbar.
