What Atal Bihari Vajpayee told Imran Khan about Kashmir issue? Vajpayee told Pakistan PM Imran Khan Kashmir Issue would have been solved if BJP had not lost

Pakistan PM Imran Khan claimed that he was informed by late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and ex-foreign minister Natwar Singh during a conference that the decades-old Kashmir issue would have been resolved if BJP had not lost the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

Cricketer-turned-politician, while giving interviews to television journalists in Islamabad on Monday said that war is not a solution to resolve Kashmir issue, it can also be resolved through talks. Adding on he said that unless there was a dialogue, various options on the resolution of Kashmir cannot be discussed.

When he was asked about the formula to resolve Kashmir issue, he said that there are two to three solutions, which are being discussed but he did not disclose more details saying that it was too early to talk about it.

“It shows that there is a solution of Kashmir and both countries were close to resolving it,” the Khan quoted by news agency PTI.

Talking about the possibility of any war with India, he said that two nuclear-armed countries would not fight because “there are always unintended consequences”.

Asserting that Pakistan was keen to develop peaceful ties with all its neighbours, Khan claimed India was not ready to hold talks with the country due to the upcoming general elections, reported PTI.

Khan said that the Pakistan Army and his government “are on the same page” and his decisions are “backed” by the military.
