Blast At Chemical Factory In Gujarat; 8 Workers Dead

Eight workers were killed and 50 others were injured in a blast at a chemical factory Yashashvi Rasayan. The massive fire was triggered by a blast in the boiler of the chemical factory at Dahej in Gujarat‘s Bharuch district. The death toll may rise for some of the injured workers are in serious condition.

Around 35-40 workers received burn injuries after the boiler of an agrochemical company exploded in the afternoon. All the injured have been taken to hospitals in Bharuch, and efforts are on to control the fire,” Bharuch collector MD Modia told PTI.

As a precautionary measure, the district administration officials have shifted around 4,800 people staying in two neighbouring villages.

A preliminary investigation report by Vijaysinh Parmar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Vagra, said, “The fire broke out due to a blast in the storage tank. 11 firefighters were rushed in and six ambulances were used to shift the injured ones to the hospital.

The report further added, “There was no responsible person present in the factory. The attendance register at the entry gate of the factory had entries of 231 persons. Five bodies were found from near the storage tank.”

It took about six hours for eleven fire tenders to bring the massive blaze under control

Police have initiated a probe into the incident.
