Maharashtra and Gujarat are on a pre-cyclone alert. A low-pressure area is formed over the Arabian Sea and Lakhshwadeep which is likely to further into a cyclonic storm. The IMD has warned it is likely to reach the coastal areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat by June 3, 2020.

Sunitha Devi of IMD, said.”A low-pressure area has formed over the southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area. It is very likely to concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 24 hours.”

The IMD has revealed that the low-pressure area is likely to concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours. It can intensify into cyclonic storm “Nisarga” in the subsequent 24 hours. All environmental conditions are favourable for intensification of the low-pressure area into a cyclone. The IMD will release the intensity and likely impact of Nisarga if it forms soon.

South coastal Maharashtra, North coast, Daman and Diu and Dadar and Nagar Haveli will receive heavy rainfall. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
