According to a report, The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has found no proof of that the exiled CBI director Alok Verma took bribes, as alleged by his deputy Rakesh Asthana.
If sources are to be believed, the vigilance body has found no evidence of any money transaction and Alok Verma has been given a clean chit on this main allegation.
Sources also pointed out that the vigilance body found ‘administrative lapses’ but no corruption.
The CVC had heard the exiled CBI chief and also his deputy Rakesh Asthana, who had written to the government and the vigilance chief accusing his boss of taking bribe from a businessman under investigation.
On November 12, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) handed the probe report of the investigation into corruption allegations against exiled CBI director Alok Verma to the Supreme Court in a sealed envelope.
Initially the exiled CBI chief, Alok Verma had launched an investigation and the CBI even filed a case against Mr Asthana, who in turn wrote to the centre and the vigilance panel against his boss.
Alok Verma went to the Supreme Court last month, which then asked the vigilance commission to complete its inquiry against the CBI chief within two weeks. The court had also mentioned that Nageswar Rao would not take any major decision and only stick to administrative calls.
Earlier in the case, Alok Verma had appeared before the three-member vigilance body and rebutted the allegations against him.
