The cyclone ‘Daye’ after creating a chaotic situation in Odisha has now crossed the Odisha coast and triggered a heavy rainfall in the state of Chhattisgarh. The worst hit district due to cyclone ‘Daye’ was Malkangiri, which is said to be virtually cut off from rest of Odisha.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and in some parts of Vidarbha. While the north Konkan region and some parts of Maharashtra may also experience very heavy rainfall today.
The district Malkangiri has received almost 265.4 mm of rainfall since Friday. Over 150 people had been rescued since yesterday in the cyclone hit region of Malkangiri.
Chief Minister of the affected state, Naveen Patnaik have reportedly sanctioned gratuitous relief for seven days at Rs 60 per day per person and Rs 45 each for children below 12 years in the district, an official in the Chief Minister’s Office said.
According to ANI, two shutters of Upper Kolab dam in Koraput have been opened today following a rise in the water level.
