Justice delayed is justice denied: Yogi Adityanath on Ayodhya case

A day after SC deferred Ram Janmahoomi-Babri Masjid case, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that justice delayed can be justice denied.

A day after Supreme Court adjourned the Ram Janmahoomi-Babri Masjid case hearing till January 2019, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that justice delayed can often be justice denied.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi matter is before the Supreme Court. Justice delivered timely is believed to be the best justice. Justice delayed sometimes leads to injustice,” said Yogi Adityanath in a tweet in Hindi on Tuesday.

The UP chief minister joined the other Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in expressing his disappointment at the case being deferred till January next year.

“All peace-loving people desirous of an end to the age-old dispute are hoping for an expeditious solution and such public sentiment needs to be respected. Our government counsel too had made a similar prayer before the Supreme Court,” he was further quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

Speaking to reporters at his residence, Adityanath said that he was in favour of an early resolution to the case at least before the Lok Sabha Polls next year. “Ram Janmbhoomi is in UP and hence law and order and security are our responsibilities and we would discharge our duties well,” he said reports the daily.

Adityanath is also the head priest of the Gorakhnath temple and is set to meet a delegation of saints from Ayodhya, who wills to get an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The saints are angry and their patience is running thin. We will definitely seek an audience with BJP leadership,” said Sharada Sharma VHP’s Ayodhya-based spokesperson.

Earlier, the apex court on Monday said that the Janmahoomi-Babri Masjid case will be decided in the first week of January.
