Madhya Pradesh: Elderly man shames holy cow at night, gets arrested

In a country where cows are worshipped and respected at par with other demi-gods, the rape of a cow sends shudders down the spines of people in the country. The gruesome crime that unfolded allegedly at the hands of an elderly man in Madhya Pradesh calls out people’s mirage of humanity. The incident comes merely days after a pregnant goat was gang raped by eight men, who bled for an entire day and then succumbed to her injuries.

The incident occurred in Suthalia area of Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh where the villagers suspected an elderly man for committing the ghoulish act. A local businessman was returning home on the night of August 3 when he allegedly saw the suspected man engaging in unnatural sex with the cow. The event occurred near the village temple. The elderly accused has been identified as Chotte Khan.

According to MyNation, an online web portal, the eye-witness identified as Mahesh Aggarwal, claimed that when he saw Chotte Khan indulging in an unnatural sex with the cow, he hurled abuses at him. He also claimed more men were standing next to the prime suspect witnessing his brutality.

The news soon spread across the village that the cow being brutalised which in turn perturbed and enraged the villagers. They assembled near the main bus stand of the area and blocked vehicular traffic at around 2:30 pm, a day after the incident had taken place. With the incidents of mob lynching on the rise, the police officials were soon alerted after which they arrived and tried to disperse the crowd. The police authorities assured the crowd that action would be taken against the accused after police investigation.

The police then arrested Chotte Khan and a complaint has been registered against him under the Section 295 (defiling place of worship with intent to insult religion) and Section 377 (Sexual contact against order of nature) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
