Mandsaur gangrape: Minor suffers from mental trauma, police nab 2

With the gangrape of an eight-year-old schoolgirl from Mandsaur on Tuesday that shook the entire state machinery to act quickly, anger too is gripping among the people of Madhya Pradesh. As the demand for capital punishment rose, police arrested the second accused on Friday. While the doctors treating the innocent victim state that they had to perform two surgeries as she had been severely assaulted.

As per to the report, the girl was waiting for her father after school on Tuesday, when she was lured by the accused and gangraped. After that the accused slit her throat. As her condition is improving at Indore’s M Y Hospital, protests continued in Pipliyamandi, Garoth, Naryanpura, Jaora, Indore, Dewas and Agar-Malwa on Friday. Also, observed a bandh on Thursday, where people demanded capital punishment for the accused.

Acting quickly after the incident took place, the police arrested a labourer Irfan alias Bhaiyu on the basis of CCTV footage. A case under of rape, abduction and POCSO Act has been registered by Kotwali police. Another accused Asif was arrested on Friday.

Though Irfan was remanded to police custody for five days, Asif’s remand will be sought on Saturday. However, police can not file the challan until they record the statement of victim, who is still not in a position to the speak to the police. Doctors are of the opinion that the victim’s condition is improving but she is still suffering from mental trauma.
