Accusing the Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad of ‘demeaning and demoralising’ Hindus, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Sambit Patra attacked the opposition. He was of the opinion that Azad’s comment has hurt sentiment of Hindus. It was like an abuse for the country’s secular fabric and Hindus.
In his address at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Lucknow on Wednesday, Azad had reportedly said that the number of Hindu candidates inviting him for campaigning has reduced drastically. The senior Congress leader had said these words in order to criticise the BJP.
Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Patra said, as quoted by Deccan Chronicle, “These are not ordinary words. It is an abuse for the country’s secular fabric and Hindus. It is yet another attempt by the Congress to demean and demoralise Hindus.”
Patra even rejected Azad’s allegation in which he stated that BJP is defaming the AMU and targeting Kashmiri students. Patra alleged the opposition party of conspiring against Hindus. Adding on, he recalled the opposition leaders inventing the terms like ‘Hindu Taliban’, ‘Hindu Pakistan’ and ‘Hindu terrorists’ in the past. Taking a jibe at Azad, Patra said that the Congress leader even wants to campaign in Pakistan.
