AMU spokesman Sahafay Kidwai said that the suspension of AMU research scholars Wasim Ayub Malik and Abdul Hasib Mir was revoked after they were exonerated by a three-member investigation committee of the university. “No credible evidence was found against the two students,” Kidwai added.

Notably, Wasim Ayub Malik and Abdul Mir were suspended on Friday last week for allegedly trying to conduct namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayers) on the campus following the killing of PhD student-turned-terrorist Manan Bashir Wani in north Kashmir.

Uttar Pradesh police had also registered a sedition case against three including Malik and Mir and one unidentified Kashmiri student of AMU. The police investigation into this matter is still on.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, some students from Jammu and Kashmir studying at AMU also threatened to leave for their homes on October 17 if the charges against the three were not dropped.

On Thursday last week, security forces eliminated two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists including Manan Bashir Wani in Shatgund Bala village of Handwara town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Manan Bashir Wani was a student of Aligarh Muslim University.
