Statue of Unity will no longer be the tallest

Statue of Unity will no more World's tallest statue after this statue. World's tallest statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji will be erected in Arabian Sea Mumbai.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — Statue of Unity — world’s tallest statue was inaugurated by prime minister Narendra on October 31. The statue was dedicated to country’s first home minister and Iron man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It has been erected on the banks of river Narmada in Kevadia town of Gujarat.

The Statue of Unity is 182 metres tall is double the height of statue of Liberty and 23 metres taller than China’s Spring Temple Buddha statue.

However, you will be amazed to know that the Statue of Unity might only remain the world’s tallest statue for three years. If everything goes as planned by the Maharashtra government, world’s tallest statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji will be erected in the Arabian Sea.

The Government of Maharashtra has said that the statue of Shivaji will be built at a cost of Rs 3800 crores and it would be ready by 2021, as per a report in inkhabar. The Statue of Unity, in comparison with the upcoming statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji, has been built at a cost of Rs 2300 crores.

According to the report, the height of Chhatrapati Shivaji statue will be 212 metres, surpassing the height of the Sardar Patel, ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat.

It may be noted that the foundation stones of both the statues were laid by PM Modi. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the recently inaugurated ‘Statue of Unity’ was held on October 31, 2013. While, the same was held for the Shivaji statue on December 24, 2016.

Once the statue is built, the Chhatrapati Shivaji statue would be called Shiv Smarak or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial.
