Vadodara Rains: Crocodiles create terror in residential area

After creating havoc in Mumbai and other parts of the country, the monsoon has now reached Gujarat. The incessant rains for more than 12 hours have disrupted life in the city. Waters from the river Vishwamitri that flows through the heart of the city has flooded major parts of Vadodara.

Due to the waters of the river Vishwamitri entering the residential areas. Crocodiles that are found in plenty in the river have been spotted in the residential area of Vadodara in broad daylight. Spotting of crocodiles has created terror among residents.

A major cloudburst in central Gujarat’s Vadodara city and around threw normal life out of gear. Heavy rainfall in Vadodara from past 24 hours has created a crisis situation. While operations are halted at Vadodara airport, almost 22 trains were cancelled. All schools have been declared closed today by the district collector.

Gujarat has so far received over 40% of its annual average rainfall. South Gujarat has received the highest rainfall so far. A high alert has been issued for two dams in South Gujarat — one each on Tapi and Navsari.
