There is a new picture out from the highly anticipated sequel of DC’s hit superhero film Wonder Woman. The Wonder Woman 1984 photo reveals Gal Gadot decked out as her character and fighting off some goons with apparent ease. The first Wonder Woman movie has already established how badass Wonder Woman can be. This photo is just more proof of it.
The image comes courtesy of Total films and director Patty Jenkins also sat down to talk to the outlet. She said that the sequel was a much harder movie to shoot… I was more ambitious with it. So doing all the stunts for real on wires and things, it’s extremely complicated and time-consuming. And everybody involved knows that you could say, ‘Oh, forget it, we’ll just do it in CG.’ So it was difficult in a new way [compared to the first film].”
The Wonder Woman 1984 director also said that the film wasn’t about parodying the ’80s.”We weren’t trying to make a mimicry [of the ’80s]. We were trying to make a movie as if it was a grounded movie in the ’80s.”
Wonder Woman 1984 stars Chris Pine returning as Steve Trevor, Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord, and Kristin Wiig as Barbara Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah.
The film will have some big shoes to fill. The first Wonder Woman movie set several box office records. It was the fifth highest-grossing superhero film domestically and 20th highest-grossing film in the United States overall. It grossed over $821 million worldwide, making it the tenth highest-grossing film of 2017 as well as the highest-grossing film by a solo female director.
Wonder Woman 1984 will be releasing in theaters on June 5th, 2020.
