5.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Jammu And Kashmir

An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 hit Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Tuesday. This is the third to hit the union territory in three days. People living in most parts of the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, Kishtwar, and Doda districts felt the strong tremors. Tremors were also felt in Jammu.

As per Officials, the earthquake occurred at 7 AM and its epicenter was in Tajikistan. However, there were no reports of any damage.

An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 hit Jammu and Kashmir on Monday (June 15) night too.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on the Richter scale had earlier hit several parts of Gujarat. The epicenter of the earthquake was 13 km from Bhachau area in Kutch district. The intensity of the earthquake was so strong that tremors were felt in the entire region of Kutch, Saurashtra, and Ahmedabad.

The recent earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir was the latest in a series of quakes to have hit parts of northern India. As many as 14 quakes have hit Delhi.
