Happy Mother’s Day 2019: Inspirational Quotes, Wishes, Images, History & GIF

Mother’s Day is undoubtedly one of the best days we have in our calendar. This auspicious day will be celebrated this year today (12 May 2019). Mother’s day is basically celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year to pay a beautiful homage of our mothers, who taught us to live life like a leader. Man and women are fortunate, who have a person in the form of his or her mother. No one can deny the fact that no one can love you better than our mommies, agree or not?

Mother’s Day is not enough to thank our mother as her contribution to our lives is immense and one day in a year is too short to describe her qualities. Our words will definitely fall short if we only thank our mothers for her love and commitment in a day.  On this beautiful day, we will talk about Mother’s day history, quotes, wishes and more.

Mother’s Day History:

In the year 1908, a lady named Anna held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia after her mom died in 1905. She had earlier started a campaign demanding to declare Mother’s Day a national holiday in the United States of America.

Her request to observe this day as a national holiday was denied initially but later her efforts were accepted by the US government and finally declared Mother’s Day as a national holiday in 1911. American statesman and lawyer Woodrow Wilson reportedly signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in the month of May as a national holiday to honour mothers in 1941.

Mother’s day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of March in the UK. They celebrate it in the memory of Mother Church on Christian Mothering Sunday, there are also other nations that have associated the day with motherhood.
