BBC has unveiled the first trailer of Mira Nair’s A Suitable Boy. The story of the series is set in newly independent India and follows four families. The series is based on Vikram Seth’s book of the same name. It also stars Tanya Maniktala, Rasika Dugal, Savita Kapoor, Randeep Hooda, Shefali Shah, Ram Kapoor and Shahana Goswami, among others, in pivotal roles.

The trailer begins Tanya Maniktala as Lata, telling her family that she doesn’t want to get married. Her family is busy looking for A Suitable Boy for her. Then there is Maan Kapoor (Ishaan Khatter), who is in love with a courtesan named Saeeda Bai (Tabu). It also beautifully captures the 1950s political movements in major cities of India.
The one-minute trailer features several romantic scenes involving Ishaan and Tabu’s characters. The sizzling chemistry shared by Ishaan Khatter and Tabu is the highlight of the trailer.
A Suitable Boy will release on BBC One and @BBCiPlayer on July 26, 2020.
