Anil Kapoor to play character of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in ‘Takht’

Anil Kapoor is all set to join multi-starrer film ‘Takht’, which also stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. Don’t you think Karan Johar is casting half of the B-town in a period drama?

This would be the first time when an ace filmmaker is trying to make a historical magnum opus. According to reports, Anil Kapoor will be playing a character of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in star-studded Dharma Production film.

Anil Kapoor to gain weight for Takht

Gearing up for the role, Anil Kapoor will have to gain weight. A source told DNA, “Anil will be putting on a lot of weight to look his part. He is currently extremely lean and fit, but early next year, he will be on a different diet and will gain quite a few kilos before he begins shoot for the period drama.”

Is this not enough to make you increase your excitement level? Karan Johar said that the film will be like his iconic film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, set in the Mughal era. Well, that sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

What is it exactly about?

Recently, giving an interview to Film Companion, he said,  “It’s about two warring brothers and it’s based on facts. It’s like the K3G of the Mughal era. But it’s more extreme, there is more betrayal. It has the tropes of court politics. It’s so rich in texture.”
