Pati Patni aur Woh: Bhumi Pednekar says it is not a sexist film
The trailer of Bhumi Pednekar‘s upcoming film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ alongside Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Pandey was released today. The movie is a remake of BR Chopra’s classic with the same name.
The trailer shows that Chintu Tyagi (Kartik Aaryan) is happily married to Vedika (Bhumi Pednekar) but seems bored of the relationship. However, Chintu’s world turns upside down when Tapasya (Ananya Pandey) enters his life as his secretary.
At the Pati Patni Aur Woh’s trailer launch, Pednekar said the team was conscious that the film didn’t shape up as a sexist comedy.
She said, “When I read that script, every doubt that I had disappeared. Like I said earlier, this film is so much fun. It’s a situational comedy, but at the same time, it’s not frivolous. It’s empowering to both the genders. There’s nobody who’s black and white in real life as well. I think the makers have been very conscious to make sure that they do not turn this into a sexist, baseless film.”
Further Pednekar said, “This is not that at all. I think everybody who’s part of this film be it Bhushan sir, Juno Chopra (film’s creative producer) or Mudassar sir, I don’t think we belong to that school. So, that’s what excited me the most about the film. This could go wrong so easily but they have been so sensitive and careful. I think it’s a big achievement.”
Mudassir Aziz said, “I have always put women at the forefront in all my films, and this film is no different. Once the film releases, the audience will realize that he (the ‘Pati’ or husband) is the situation and these two women (‘Patni and ‘Woh’ — or, the wife and the lover) are driving the situation home.”
‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ is set to release on December 6.
On the other note, Bhumi Pednekar was last seen in ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ and will be seen in ‘Bala’ opposite Ayushmann Khurrana which will be releasing this Friday.
