Chhattisgarh: Woman researcher finds cancer cure, ‘less painful than Chemotherapy’

Mamata Tripathi, who is a researcher at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University’s Chemistry Department, Raipur, Chhattisgarh has claimed to have developed a new and better cancer treatment formula. Tripathi said that her team has successfully completed the lab tests and the next step will be to test the formula on small living beings.

The young researcher also claimed that if successful the formula will be a potential alternative to the painful chemotherapy being currently used to treat cancer.

Cancer is a life-threatening disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue. Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, and was responsible for 8.8 million deaths in 2015. Globally, nearly 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer.

Currently, chemotherapy is the most effective treatment for cancer. In this treatment, doctors use anti-cancer drugs as part of a standardised chemotherapy to reduce symptoms. However, chemotherapy is a painful treatment with several side effects.

If Tripathi’s formula is successful, it is being touted as a major breakthrough towards finding a cure for the deadly disease. As of now, the professor of Chemistry at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University says that this is a great achievement.
