Chief of Defence Bipin Rawat thanked all COVID-19 warriors on behalf of the armed forces. He thanked the doctors, nurses, sanitation workers, police, home guards, and delivery boys for their service. In addition, he thanked the media for reaching out with the message of government on how to carry on with lives in difficult times.

He further added that “The Army on its part will conduct mountain band displays along some of the COVID hospitals in almost every district of our country. The armed forces will also lay wreathe at the police memorial on May 3 in support of our police forces.”

In addition, CDS Bipin Rawat added that the nation will witness some special activities in the upcoming days. The Air Force will conduct flypast from Srinagar to Trivandrum. There will also be another one starting from Dibrugarh in Assam to Kutch in Gujarat. It’ll include both transport and fighter aircraft. During the India Air Force’s flypast, the aircraft will also be showering flower petals at some places.

He went on to add that the Navy on its part will have its warships deployed in formations in coastal areas in the evening on May 3. Navy warships would also be lit up and their choppers would be used for showering petals on hospitals.

The Chief of Defence Staff General added that military deployment was not needed to undertake actions in red zones so far. He expressed full confidence in the capability of the police personnel.

Meanwhile, Indian Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria stated that they have enforced all the precautions. He also stated that there were no COVID-19 cases in the Air Force so far. However, they will not be lowering their guard.
Army Chief General Manoj M Naravane stated that there will be no let-up in counter-terrorism operations due to COVID19. The terrorists killed in operations will be handed over to the civil administration. He also added that the first coronavirus patient in the Army has been cured and is back on duty. The Army has had only 14 cases of which 5 have been cured and they have returned to work. In addition, the Army Chief added that there has been an increase in numbers of people trying to cross the LoC.

 

He also shared that “We have seen that there is an attempt (to misuse) and we have issued an advisory that only authorised application to be downloaded and used.”
