Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has imposed a complete ban on the sale of meat and liquor in Mathura. The CM said that those involved in the business may take up milk selling in order to revive the glory of the religious city.

There has been a demand that meat and liquor be banned in holy places in the state. Meat and liquor are also banned in Vrindavan and Barsana, which were the first two cities to be declared holy shrines in the state. Now a ban has been imposed in Mathura.

The CM also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a new direction to the country. He said places of faith were neglected since long is being revived now.

The chief minister who was speaking at the Krishnotsava 2021 programme said, “The officers concerned are directed to make plans for the ban as well as for the engagement of people involved in such activities in some other trade.”

The priest turned politician further added, “Every effort will be made to develop Brij Bhumi and there will be no dearth of funds for this. We are looking at a blend of modern technology and the cultural and spiritual heritage for the development of the region.”

Chief Minister Yogi further added that those who used to ignore the Hindu festival till now. Have started saying that Ram is also ours and Krishna is also ours.

Adityanath was accompanied by Cabinet ministers Laxmi Narain Chaudhary and Shrikant Sharma on the occasion.
