On Friday, the Tablighi Jammat leader spoke to India Today TV and said he had undergone a COVID-19 test and his results were awaited. Now, he may appear before the crime branch on April 27 i.e tomorrow.

On March 31, the Delhi Police’s crime branch had lodged an FIR against seven people, including Maulana Saad, on a complaint by Station House Officer of Nizamuddin police station for holding a congregation of Tablighi Jamaat followers. He had allegedly violated the orders by organising the event.

On April 16, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a money laundering case against Maulana Saad, trusts linked to the Jamaat and others. Officials said an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR)was filed by the agency based on an FIR by Delhi Police.

Maulana Saad, the leader of Tablighi held a large congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz, without permission from authorities. This led to the spread of the infection across the country. Several people who attended the event in March and travelled across the country tested positive for the coronavirus.
