Govt Launches COVID-19 Tracking App Aarogya Setu For Android and iOS Users
The app supports up to 11 Indian languages and its aim is to spread maximum awareness about staying indoors and maintaining personal hygiene.
The Government of India has launched a mobile app titled Aarogya Setu so that people can assess the risk of being infected by Coronavirus. The app supports up to 11 Indian languages and its aim is to spread maximum awareness about staying indoors and maintaining personal hygiene. The app works on both Android and iOS, and it will help a person to calculate his/her interaction with others, using Bluetooth technology, algorithms, and artificial intelligence.
Once a person installs the app on a smartphone, it will detect other devices with Aarogya Setu installed in the proximity. The app helps to find out whether they are at risk of being infected by the coronavirus if they have come into contact with persons who have been tested positive for Covid-19. The app will also tell you if you are in a safe location or not.
The app was developed by the National Informatics Center which falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
You have to first register your mobile number before using the Aarogya Setu app. The app will ask users for their credentials but this step is optional. The data stored on the app is “encrypted” as claimed by the government. Android users will also receive live tweets from the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India is 2400 and 69 deaths are caused till now.
