Dhoni stepped down as Indian team’s captain in the limited overs format in 2017, making way for young Virat Kohli to lead the pack in all formats of the game. Since then, Dhoni is in the team just as a wicket keeper batsman who tends to guide and nurture young talent around him ensuring the mantle is in safe hands for long run. Virat Kohli has done well as a captain since the time he was appointed as the captain.
Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket in 2013 and yet finds his place amongst the top followed sports personalities in India. Though he has quit cricket but he is always in news as he keeps motivating and appreciating young talent through social media handles showing his support to different sports, not only cricket.
As expected, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are other sports persons in the list of most admired sports personalities in India. The Juventus forward got 2.60 % votes while the Argentine bagged a total of 2.00% votes. The ever so impressive David Beckham is also in the list with 1.60 percent votes.
