Draupadi: Madhu Mantena opens up on working with Deepika Padukone

Bollywood actress, Deepika Padukone was last seen sharing the screen space with Vikrant Massey in Chhapaak. Reportedly, she has been busy with the production work of Pathan, which also features Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. DP also has 83, the cricket drama to be released starring hubby Ranveer Singh. Amidst the buzz about her upcoming films, she makes buzz for yet another project. Filmmaker, Madhu Mantena reveals working hard on mythological drama Draupadi. He reveals the crew is intensively doing research on the Draupadi’s role in the Mahabharata.

Spilling the beans about this film, Madhu Mantena informs Pinkvilla that Deepika and he have been making it together. He reveals making such genre films take time and they don’t want to be irresponsible when it comes to the research part and putting things all together. “It’s going to be Ramayana first. These things take time and we don’t want to be irresponsible in our approach. Deepika and I are trying to do the Mahabharata from Draupadi’s point of view because we want the people to understand who Draupadi is. There is a lot of research that’s going on (as we speak),” said the filmmaker.

He further reveals that various drafts are being worked upon to make this film an epic one. Madhu informs the portal,  “Deepika is not making this film because she is an actor, she is making it because she and I strongly feel that it’s a great story that is to be told from Draupadi’s point of view. We are working hard to put everything together. These projects do take time, and we all know that. These are not small responsibilities, we are looking to create a world which has not been seen before.”
