Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan is devastated by the sudden demise of her former dance partner Hemu Sahai. He passed away due to COVID-19. Farah had partnered with Hemu in the ’80s. It was a time when Farah was trying to create a niche for herself in Bollywood. Hemu was not only her good friend but also guided her. The two had even travelled overseas for various dance competitions.

Farah took to social media to post an emotional tribute for her dance partner. She wrote, “Rest in Peace My dance partner, my guide, my friend Hemu Sinha.”

The picture of this former dancing partner seemed to be from one of Farah’s TV ventures, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Actress and host Mini Mathur also mourned the demise of Hemu as she remembered him as a true teacher. Hemu Sinha was seen as a TV presenter and actress Mini Mathur’s choreographer in the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

She wrote, “Hemu was patient, confident & told me to enjoy learning the form without worrying about scores and votes. A true teacher. And the only one who I could match a step within heels. Today he passed away due to covid. RIP Hemu .. make the angels dance with you. #RIP #HemuSinha #choreographer #danceteacher(sic).”

Those who know, do. Those who understand, teach. When Hemu Sinha was designated to be my choreographer for Jhalak Dikhlaja 2, he had come out of a self imposed exile from dance after 15 years, had lost 25 kilos and was raring to go. I was skeptical because I thought I needed someone ‘sharper’ to make me look good since I was a novice at dance forms that weren’t about jumping wildly to music. Over 4 -5 months Hemu taught me the intricacies of so many dance styles : backflips, tango, turns, rolls, salsa, cha cha cha and naga. His knowledge and experience was SO deep that he knew exactly at which angle a hold could go wrong. I was impatient, competitive and liked short cuts. He was patient, confident & told me to enjoy learning the form without worrying about scores and votes. A true teacher. And the only one who I could match a step with in heels. Today he passed away due to covid. RIP Hemu .. make the angels dance with you. #RIP #HemuSinha #choreographer #danceteacher

Apart from being a choreographer, Hemu also worked as a TV presenter. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Hemu’s family and friends.
