On Friday, a fire broke out at a chemical plant in Kurkumbh MIDC area of Pune district in Maharashtra. The cause of the fire break out is yet to be known. According to ANI, five fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

Confirming the event, Devendra Potphode, chief fire officer of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), stated many fire tenders are present and are trying to extinguish the flames at Kusmum Distillation and Refining Private Limited Company, reports Indian Express.

The report in Indian Express, states, the incident came to light after a tremendous noise was heard in the area. Fires and smoke were noticed coming out of the office premises triggered a panic-like condition in the area for some time. On acquiring the news, Pune rural police teams, as well as the fire brigade, hurried to the spot. However, the precise number and confirmation on the same remains anticipated.

Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament Baramati, took to her Twitter and said, “Kusum Chemicals in Kurkumbh MIDC is on Fire.I spoke with Shri. Naval Kishore Ram-Pune District Collector.Administration has started the Relief Work.I am monitoring the situation and co-ordinating Relief measures along with the Administration.I urge all the citizens not to panic.”
