Fuel price hike: Petrol costs Rs 88.12 per litre in Mumbai, Rs 82.66 per litre in Delhi

Saturday saw yet another rise in the prices of fuel in the country. Notably, the petrol is being sold at Rs 82.66 per litre in Delhi and Rs 88.12 per litre in Mumbai. Diesel is being retailed at Rs 75.19 per litre and Rs 78.82 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.

The petrol prices were increased by Rs 0.18 in Delhi and Mumbai . A spike was also witnessed in diesel prices by Rs 0.29 and Rs 0.31 respectively.

The news agency ANI quoted, “Petrol and diesel prices in #Delhi are Rs 82.66 per litre (increase by Rs 0.18) and Rs 75.19 (increase by Rs 0.29) respectively. Petrol and diesel prices in #Mumbai are Rs 88.12 per litre (increase by Rs 0.18) and Rs 78.82 per litre (increase by Rs 0.31) respectively.”

On Friday, the petrol was sold at Rs 82.48 per litre in Delhi and Rs 87.94 per litre in Mumbai. Diesel was retailed at Rs 74.90 per litre and Rs 78.51 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.

The fuel prices started increasing on a daily basis since mid-August. The petrol and diesel prices had gone up by nearly Rs 6 per litre before the Centre announced a cut last week. The central government on October 4 had announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both diesel and petrol. Following the suit, several states also announced a price cut in fuel prices. However, soon after, the prices again began to rise.
