Gangubai Kathiawadi: Mumbai court summons Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali

‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ continues to be in the limelight, but for all the wrong reasons. Recently, a criminal defamation case filed by Babu Rawji Shah, one of the four children adopted by Gangubai Kathiawadi. Now, the Mumbai Court has summoned Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali in regards to the case.

The petitioner Baburao Shah, who is the adopted son of Gangubai Kathiawadi, has claimed that his family is being shown in a wrong way in the film and that many facts are also wrong. The film is based on a book written by Hussain Zaidi titled ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. He has also been asked to be present in the court.

Earlier, Baburao had filed a petition in a Mumbai civil court, seeking a restraining order against the film, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and its trailers, however, it was rejected.

Gangubai Kathiawadi’s teaser was unveiled on SLB’s birthday which was last month, and it garnered positive reviews from the audience.

It is a biographical crime drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Jayantilal Gada and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film also stars Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi featured in a cameo appearance. Earlier, the film was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 11, last year, but was delayed to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, it will is slated to hit the theatres on July 30.
