Former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly has advised Virat Kohli to bat at number four in the three match ODI series against England, starting from Thursday at Nottingham. Dada feels that this will add depth and stability to the batting line up.
India have experimented with six different batsman in the form of KL Rahul, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey since Sri Lanka tour in 2017. All these players have loads of talent but they have failed to cement their position as India’s two down batsman.
“If you look at this T20I series, I think they have formed the proper batting line-up. With Rahul at number three, and Virat Kohli batting at number four, I think the problem has been sorted out. And I firmly believe it is also the right thing to do in the ODI format as well.”, said Ganguly.
Sourav Ganguly feels that England are a very good batting unit but they lack the firepower when it comes to bowling. With this, India have a great chance of producing the same result as they did in the T20 Internationals. The visitors will be keen to continue winning momentum into the ODI’s.
Dada also stated that India has one of the best batting line up in the world and they can put any bowling side under pump. If Virat Kohli walks in at number four, it will solidify the already aggressive looking Indian outfit.
“Conditions in England can vary vastly from wicket to wicket and so every game is a different challenge”, he in a way warned players by adding this statement.
India will play against England in the first ODI at Nottingham on Thursday from 1700hrs IST.
