Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir feels that Virat Kohli is a world class player and he does not need to play with the mindset that he has to prove himself against England. He has achieved many major milestones and has been a great force in the Indian cricket team since his arrival.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has prospered in all forms of cricket in any given conditions but England is one such place where he has failed to deliver goods. After a sorry 2014 series against England, the Delhi boy will be under spotlight once the five match Test series begins on 1st August at Birmingham.

“Someone like Ricky Ponting! He has only hand one international hundred in India and people still call him a legend. You can’t define someone if he has had just one bad tour. He (Kohli) has already proved himself in different conditions, so he should not be thinking on the lines that he has to prove something on the English tour,” said Gambhir.
Gambhir also stated that Stuart Broad and James Anderson are one of the most intriguing fast bowlers when it comes to red ball cricket. Tackling the with patience is of utmost importance for the visitors and analysis of the conditions should be done as soon as possible in order to decide the tempo of the game.
Virat Kohli would be keen to perform well in the upcoming series as a captain and also as a batsman. The bowlers will test him with deliveries going away as he was criticised a lot for his tendency to poke at balls away from the body when he previously visited England.
“He can’t put additional pressure on himself thinking that the last tour of England wasn’t great. Important thing is that he has already proved himself to the world and is probably one of the top three batters in the world”, Gambhir added.
