Gujarat: Night Curfew Timings Revised In 4 Major Cities As COVID-19 Cases Surge

After Maharashtra, Gujarat is also facing a spike in coronavirus cases. In view of the recent spike in coronavirus cases, the Gujarat government had decided to implement a night curfew. This was done in four metros: Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot. But the state government has revised the timings of the night curfew to contain the spread. The curfew will now remain in force from 10 pm to 6 am.

The curfew timings earlier were from 12 am to 6 am. The decision was taken on Tuesday in the core committee meeting of the coronavirus task-force headed by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

In a statement released by the government, it said, “The state government has decided to impose a curfew from 10 pm to 6 am in view of the increasing cases of coronavirus. The restrictions will be in place till March 31.”

the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation also asked eateries, restaurants and malls in eight wards of the city to close down at 10 pm.

The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) also said that the next three T20 matches between India and England will be played without any spectators. The games were to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Gujarat on Monday reported 890 new cases of COVID-19, taking its tally to 2,79,097. As per official health data, Surat has been reporting the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state, followed by Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot.
