World Cup winning captain Hugo Lloris charged with drink and driving case

Tottenham Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who captained France to their second World Cup glory was on Friday charged with drunken driving in a Street area in England.

The Metropolitan police confirmed the news that Lloris who lifted the World Cup, a couple of months ago in June was found to be driving in a drunk state and hence a case was filed against him.

Lloris has however got a bail now and has been instructed by a court in England to return for a hearing on the matter next month on September 11.

“A man has been charged following a routine patrol stop in Gloucester Place, W1. Hugo Lloris, 31, of East Finchley was charged with drink-driving on Friday, August 24. He has been bailed to return to Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 11,” said a statement from the Metropolitan police as reported by Omnisport.

Meanwhile, Lloris, who also captains club Tottenham Hotspur will be next seen in the English Premier League (EPL) on Monday when his club travels to Old Trafford for the clash.

Tottenham has so far won both of its EPL matches against Newcastle United (2-1) and Fulham (3-1) and is currently sitting fifth in the table.

Their opponents on Monday, Manchester United have had a bad start after losing to Brighton (2-3) in their first away match of the season. They had won their opening fixture against Leicester City (2-1).
