Kabir Bedi opens up on his son Siddharth Bedi’s suicide

Kabir Bedi has spoken about the death of his son, Siddharth, who took his own life in 1997.

Veteran actor Kabir Bedi has opened up about his personal and professional relationships in his upcoming memoir, ‘Stories I Must Tell: The Emotional Journey of an Actor.’ In a recent interview, ahead of the launch of the book, the actor also opened up about the shocking suicide of his older son Siddharth Bedi, which happened in 1997.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Kabir spoke about his son Siddharth and said that he was a very brilliant young man. He also called his son exceptional in his abilities. He said that he and his family tried hard to figure out what was wrong with him for three years, they even battled with unknown ghosts. Eventually, after an extremely violent breakout in the streets of Montreal, wherein eight policemen nailed his son down and that’s when the doctors diagnosed Siddharth as schizophrenic.

Further, Kabir said that Siddharth came to Los Angeles and they tried their best to battle this. However, in the end, he said that he lost the battle as his son chose to end his life as he couldn’t bear the world that schizophrenia gave him. He added that his family tried to battle Siddharth’s illness but “the guilt one suffers when somebody in your family commits suicide is enormous, no matter how much you try.”

Siddharth committed suicide at the age of 25 in the United States. His father Kabir faced a tragic phase of life.
