Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is currently prepping for a trilingual biographical film titled Thalaivi. The story is about the life of J. Jayalalithaa, a late politician, and actress who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The makers of the film dropped the first look of Kangana Ranaut as J Jayalalithaa. Ever since the first look was out, it has been a topic of discussion due to Kangana’s transformation.
In a conversation with Mid-Day, Ranaut spoke about her transformation and said, “That was needed so as to look voluptuous, especially around the belly and thighs. Since I am tall and skinny, and my face is angular, not round, I had to take mild doses of hormone pills to look different. Of course, I also started eating foods that promote weight gain.”
Further, talking about her makeup for the film, Kangana said, “Jason Collins team made a structure that was suitable to make me look voluptuous. During the portions showcasing her as a young politician, we aimed to only make my face look fuller. As for the rest of the body, it took the team seven hours each day to acquire the look. The hands had to be re-done, and different kinds of pads were used for different parts of the body.”
Finally, concluding, Ranaut said, “Jayalalithaa was strong-willed; I am fiery. Acquiring her demeanor [was a challenge]. It’s a body language that I am being introduced to for the first time.”
Thalaivi will be released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu on June 26, 2020. Apart from Kangana, the film co-stars Jassie Gill, Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chadha, Neena Gupta and Rajesh Tailang in key roles.
