Despite album delay, Kanye West’s Jesus Is King releasing on schedule

Kanye West’s Jesus is King album might have been indefinitely postponed but the IMAX film linked with the album will proceed as scheduled. A minute long trailer of Jesus Is King shared by West, give an insight into the Nick Knight directed film. The concert film features his gospel-rap group, Sunday Service. It is scheduled to debut in IMAX theaters worldwide on October 25th.

Mark jafar, IMAX representative, confirmed that the movie will drop next Friday though it is as yet unclear which cities will screen the film, reports USA TODAY.

The Jesus Is King trailer shows the screen slowly zooming in on a light from inside a keyhole tunnel, with his gospel music playing in the background. A bible Verse takes up the screen next, reading, “In the words of Jesus Christ, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.'”

Jesus Is King  “is a one-of-a-kind experience features 13 songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition and performed by the Sunday Service choir — as well as all-new music from his forthcoming album of the same name — presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of IMAX,” the company said of the film.

Some of West’s new songs will feature in the film although no release date has been announced for the rapper’s ninth album.

The film was shot through the summer in James Turrell’s Roden Carter in Arizona. Kanye West’s Wyoming ranch was used for additional photography for the documentary.

IMAX is also opening ticketing for a limited period of a week for Jesus Is King. The films hits nationwide in more than 325 IMAX theaters with an additional 125+ internationally on 25th October.
