Katrina Kaif’s Bharat looks inspired from 70’s Bollywood actress Nutan
Katrina Kaif in a never seen before avatar.
Katrina Kaif, who is playing the lead role opposite Salman Khan in ‘Bharat’, looks beautiful. Her new avatar with all the curls and the pastel-hued sarees are pleasant to the eyes.
While we see Salman Khan age with the passage of time on the film, it isn’t just him who ages. It is Katrina as well. She looks absolutely elegant in the avatar that ages with the course of time in the film. As revealed by her stylist, it took her about two hours to get ready with all the makeup and prosthetics used.
Katrina’s stylist Veeru Kapur in an interview by Mid Day reveals the look is inspired by Bollywood actors of the ‘60s and ‘70s, including Nutan. She says “We watched many old films and looked at images of yesteryear Bollywood actresses, like Nutan. Katrina also loved the idea of having curls. She thought it would create an image different from her previous characters”.
Veeru also adds’ “We used prosthetics to show the ageing process. While Katrina sports a chiselled jawline in the younger portions, we made it less defined as the story progressed. In the latter portions, you can see her with fuller cheeks, under-eye wrinkles and grey hair. It would take us about two hours to attain the look. We also conveyed her maturity by the use of different fabrics. In the young portions, she is seen wearing delicate chiffon sarees, and as the character ages, she gravitates towards deep-hued cotton sarees”.
She also adds that Katrina prefers minimalistic looks for herself. The prosthetic artists were flown in from abroad. While Salman would often get impatient with all the look trials, Katrina used to be extremely patient.
The film ‘Bharat’ is starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Tabu, Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff, Disha Patani and Nora Fatehi play other pivotal roles. Bharat is set to hit theatres on Eid 2019 i.e. June 5.
