Farmers protest caught a momentum ever since the violent tractor rally protest took place on Republic Day. After international celebs tweeted about the protest, Mahatma Gandhi’s granddaughter Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee, who is 84-year-old has lend her supports to the protesting farmers. She urged the farmers to carry out the protests peacefully and she has also urged the government of India to take care of the farmers community in India.

The chairman of the National Gandhi Museum, Tara also met the farmers at Ghazipur on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border on Saturday to express her support to the protesting farmers. According to the statement issued by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Tara lending her full supports to the protesting farmers said that,“We have not come here as part of any political programme. We have come here today for the farmers, who have fed all of us our whole life.”

“I want that whatever happens, farmers should be benefitted by it. Nobody is unaware of the hard work that the farmers do and it is not to be said again that in the benefit of farmers lies the benefit of our country, and all of us,” stated Tara in her statement.
