Malayalam veteran actor Sathar passes away at 67 funeral to be held in Kochi
In a huge loss to the Malayalam Industry veteran actor, Sathar passed away at the age of 67. The actor known for entertaining fans for almost 45 years was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Aluva, Kochi, Kerala. He left for his heavenly abode on September 17, 2019.
Sathar was admitted to a hospital a few days back. He was undergoing treatment for liver diseases. The final rites of the much-loved actor will be held today. The actor will be laid to rest at 4 PM today at the Padinjare Juma Masjid in Kodungalloor.
Sathar has acted in more than 300 films and was quite active in the 1970s and ’80s. Sathar had marked his debut in ‘Bharyaye Avashyamundu Samarppanam’, directed by M Krishnan Nair in 1975. He ruled the Malayalam cinema with powerful roles as the lead actor and villain too. He also tried his hands at production.
Sathar was also seen in ‘A Vincent’s Anavaranam’, 22 Female Kottayam, Manglish, Ajnjana Theerangal, Neelathamara, Ee Nadu, Beena and many more.
He married Jayabharathi, a leading actress of those days, in 1979. The marriage lasted till 1987. Has a son Krish who is finding his foot in the film industry as an actor.
On the work front, he was last seen in the film ‘Onnum Onnum Moonu’, a film directed by Abhilash, Bijoy Joseph and VS Sreekanth in 2015. He will last be seen in Avarum Ivarum.
Celebrities like Aju Varghese, Kunchacko Boban, filmmaker Lal Jose took to social media and offered condolences for veteran actor Sathar.
