TV Actor Manmeet Grewal Commits Suicide
His wife told the police that Manmeet was under severe economic pressure
TV actor Manmeet Grewal has committed suicide at his Kharghar residence due to economic pressures, several media outlets have reported. The 32-year-old actor was known for his stint on SAB TV’s Aadat Se Majboor. His wife stated to the police that Manmeet Grewal was under severe economic pressure. He owed money but could not get work due to the lockdown.
“His wife was eating dinner in the kitchen when he went to the bedroom and apparently hanged himself from the
ceiling fan with a dupatta,” said Ajit Kamble, police sub-inspector at Kharghar police station, as reported by Mumbai Mirror.
Manmeet Grewal committed suicide in his flat in the Swapnapurti Housing Society at Sector 36, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai around 9.30 pm on Friday. When his wife heard the noise of a chair falling, she came to the bedroom to check on her husband and found him hanging from the ceiling. The actor, who had recently married Ravindra Kaur, was rushed to the Panvel Rural hospital where he was declared dead.
Ravindra Kaur told the police that her husband Manmeet had been under a lot of stress for the past few days. This was due to the fact that many of his projects including a web series and a few commercials were put on hold due to the lockdown. In addition, she also stated that her husband had been considering shifting bases to a foreign country. However, that plan was also put on hold due to the lockdown.
Meanwhile, the actor also had some loans he could not repay.
“She told us that he had some loans that he hadn’t repaid as well.” said Ajit Kamble.
May his soul rest in peace.
