Mohammed Shami wins ugly divorce and maintenance battle against wife Hasin Jahan

The estranged wife of Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami on Friday lost the maintenance litigation she had filed against her former husband at an Alipore court in Kolkata.

Hasin Jahan, who had separated from Shami after complaining of domestic violence and torture had earlier demanded Rs 7 lakh per month from him for the family maintenance, but the court had rejected her PIL only allocating an amount of Rs 80,000 per month for their daughter.

Judge Neha Sharma approved the maintenance claim for their daughter. Shami has been asked to pay Rs 80,000 per month for the daughter, reported Zee News.

Shami, who had refused to pay for Jahan’s maintenance citing that she had already re-started her modelling career however agreed to pay for their daughter.

His advocate was quoted saying that his client has been willing to pay the daughter’s maintenance since the beginning.

But both Jahan and her lawyer refused to agree that she has once again started her modelling career and stated that although she has made efforts into re-starting her modelling career, Jahan is yet find any work.

A former model and a cheerleader with Kolkata Knight Riders, Jahan had earlier demanded a monthly compensation of Rs 10 lakh, which included seven lakh for the family maintenance and another three lakh per month for their daughter.

She had also filed several domestic violence and age-fraud cases against Shami, his elder brother, his mother her and sister-in-law. She had also accused Shami of extra-marital affairs and even made public copies of the various conversations he reportedly had with other women.

Apart from all those allegations, Shami was also accused by Jahan of taking money from a Pakistani woman named Alishba through an England-based businessman Mohammad Bhai. She had publicly alleged that the Indian pacer had taken bribery to fix many international and domestic matches.

But the 28-year-old was cleared by the BCCI and was given a central contract after the board’s anti-corruption unit had acquitted Shami of all those charges.

Meanwhile, the Indian fast bowler is currently in England and is part of the five-match Test series. India trail England 0-2, with three matches remaining.
