Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections 2018: BJP unlikely to issue tickets to 70-80 MLAs

With barely weeks remaining for Madhya Pradesh to go for the Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party is in no mood to take chances. As per to the sources, the party might not issue tickets to 70-80 MLAs and ministers this time, citing anti-incumbency.

Explaining the move, as quoted by the PTI, a party leader said, “The party is seriously toying with the idea of not giving tickets to 70-80 MLAs and ministers.” Though he refrained for citing the reason behind, he indicated that anti-incumbency might be the factor, the senior party leaders are looking for.

The source also added that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan — touring the state as part of his Jan Ashirwad Yatra — has received complaints from people that ministers and MLAs have not performed to the expected level. It is to be known that there have been reports of public outrage in the state against the party.

Also, recent opinion poll state that Congress has gained an edge over BJP among the people and might return in Madhya Pradesh after a gap of of 15 years. In 2013, BJP claimed 165 seats while Congress could manage only 58 seats. BSP, which is going solo this time, won only one seat. the elections in Madhya Pradesh will take place on November 28 and the counting will take place on December 11.
