MP Assembly elections: No one wants to listen to PM Modi, says BJP leader; audio goes viral

An alleged audio clip of Mukesh Tandon, who is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Vidisha and BJP’s state President Rakesh Singh, discussing about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decreasing popularity among the people has gone viral. In the audio clip, Mukesh Tandon can be heard saying that ‘no one wants to hear PM Modi and he used the harsh word ‘Harami’ for BJP workers’.

It is to be noted that, Mukesh Tandon is said to be a close aid to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Tandon can also be heard saying that he had spent crore of rupees to mobilise people for PM Modi’s rally in the poll-bound state Madhya Pradesh, as no one wants to hear him anymore.

If he conversation between the two BJP leaders is anything to go by, it points out that BJP is going through a tough time in the state. In the audio clip, Tandon demanded around three crore to woo voters as no one wants to work for free. In addition, he is heard saying, “I have already spent 1.5 million rupees from my own pocket but it is not enough.”

When State president confronted him asking that if he contesting elections or distributing money? Without mentioning the currency denomination, Rakesh Singh said, “The 22 have already been delivered in your account, state president has also sent you 2 and Shivraj was also saying he also sent you 3.”

In the audio clip, Tandon can be heard saying that, how can elections be won without spending money. He also said that on the eve of elections, he and his workers have to distribute sarees, liquors and money to grab people’s vote. Before ending the conversation, Tandon made it clear that he needed at least Rs 3 crore to win the upcoming Assembly elections.

Responding to Tandon’s demand, Rakesh Singh said that he will speak to CM Shivraj Singh and let him know. But Singh asked him to continue in his efforts and should not lose at the assembly elections at any cost.

The Congress party has handed over the alleged audio clip to the Election Commission while registering a complaint.

The veracity of the audio couldn’t be verified by The Live Mirror independently. Mukesh Tandon has called it a fake audio and demanded an investigation. There has been no official complaint from the BJP as of now.
