Man arrested in Mumbai for murdering same-sex live-in partner

A 28-year old man has been detained by Mumbai’s Railway Crime Branch for allegedly killing his live-in partner of the same sex. The accused explained the reason for his crime is the fact that he feared his sexual orientation would be revealed by the victim to everyone.

Salim Ansari, 28 the accused is a resident of the Sonbhadra village in the state of Uttar Pradesh and works at a dairy in Malad, reports from DNA suggest.

Railway Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik said that they recovered a body of a 45-year old man’s body near the tracks between the railway stations in Malad and Goregaon after which the Borivali police began an investigation after registering a murder case.

A police officer, as quoted by mid-day, said, “ In one of the CCTV footages of Malad (W), the deceased person was spotted with a man. Through our informants, we learned that the said person with the deceased works in a dairy at Malad. We then picked up the suspect on Wednesday and grilled him.

Opening up on the case, the officer added, “ Ansari said that he and Mishra, the deceased, had established a physical relationship. Ansari told us that he had also taken Rs 26,000 from Mishra as a loan and that the latter kept demanding his money. Ansari claimed that Mishra had even threatened to expose his sexual orientation at his village if he does not return the money. Ansari then hatched a plan to eliminate Mishra.”
